North of Auckland

Just North of Auckland is a magnificent aquatic corridor which
stretches from the city all the way up to world-famous Cape Reinga
in the Far North.
Linked by a fast-flowing modern motorway network, the east coast beaches North of Auckland are the backyard sea playground for those in the city. While the choice of which beach to visit may throw up an extensive menu of sandy selections, picking the right beach or seaside resort for you is relatively simple… as each is so different from the next - even though they may only be a few kilometres apart.
When your criteria consists of housing styles, surf breaks, local amenities, fishing spots, and residential character, it's simple to tick the right boxes to narrow down your choices in the quest to find that perfect waterfront location in which to buy a home or property.
Bustling Gulf Harbour and Whangaparaoa Peninsula starts the North of Auckland chain - serving a contrast of living styles. Whangaparaoa Peninsula being more established and with traditional family homes, while the recently developed Gulf Harbour reflects a new style of home and living - such as the apartments adjoining the magnificent marina.
Across the bay is Orewa Beach - once a holiday resort for Aucklanders who love their swimming and surfing, and now - thanks to an express highway - a virtual seaside suburb of the city which can be reached in under 30 minutes. With a fizzing retail hub just across the road from the beach, Orewa delivers beachside coastal living within an easy commute of the city.
Just a short drive further north historic and well-established settlement of Warkworth, with it's satellite towns of Snell's Beach and Algie's Bay - with their true Kiwi classic bach holiday properties sprinkled amidst comfortable retirement homes. It's common to see three generations of family launching the boat or walking along the pohutukawa-lined beaches at these peaceful locations.
Around the headland is the more recently developed Omaha subdivision with stunning architecturally-designed holiday homes looking out to sea. Verging on the palatial, the newer homes at Omaha have all been designed to meet the emphasis on outdoor living and summers by the sea - with BBQ areas, and plenty of space to store and clean the boat.
With a fantastic surf beach, challenging 18-hole semi-links golf course, and five minutes drive from a selection of stylish cafes, restaurants and wineries in the Matakana township, Omaha has become a much sought-after destination.
Over the hill is the sleepy settlement of Leigh - providing a perfect base from which to launch fishing trips around the Mahurangi region, diving at the famous Goat Island marine reserve, or for easy access to a handful of surf beaches.
For surfers and lovers of never-ending pristine white sandy beaches where you can potentially walk for hours without seeing another sole, idyllic Pakari, and Te Ari lead north for kilometre after kilometre of beautiful South Pacific beach.
Their northern destination is Mangawhai… another classic Kiwi seaside resort with roots - and baches - dating back generations. Now a popular location for all the full spectrum of New Zealanders, Managawhai has all the hospitality and social amenities required to make this settlement popular for both living at permanently or as a holiday location
The most northern tip of the North of Auckland region is nearby Lang's Beach - a small settlement of middle and upper-bracket homes for those who want stylish beachfront property away from commercial activity.
And we shouldn't forget the West Coast, a bit more rugged and certainly offering a quieter pace-of-life, there are some spectacular Waterfront locations offering privacy and seclusion.
All of this well under a two hour drive from Auckland - making all of the beach locations between Langs Beach and the city perfect for commuters, weekend retreats and holiday homes.
